Houston Teachers

As a former educator, I cannot think of a more deserving group of people to recognize this week than our teachers. Molding our future one child at a time, teachers are tasked with preparing our children for college and the workforce, instilling character and discipline in their young charges, and at times acting as counselor – all with limited resources and mountains of paperwork.

Houston’s economic future depends on our schools. Employers require a well-educated workforce. Employees demand quality schools for their children. Our neighborhoods thrive when the reputation of their local campuses excel. And teachers have the frontline responsibility for making all those things happen.

Next time you see a teacher, please make a special effort to thank her or him for the great contribution teachers make to our community.
