Upcoming: Greater East End Developer’s Workshop

Council Member Melissa Noriega—March 2, 2012 in Articles

The Greater East End Management District, in Association with BetterHouston, is planning a large-scale Urban Village project in Houston’s East End. With its proximity to downtown and METRO’s Harrisburg line scheduled to begin operating in 2012, this community is set to become Houston’s next flourishing urban district. An additional benefit to this area is a standing commitment from the City to assist property owners, residents and merchants in East End revitalization efforts.

We are fully committed to working closely with all potential developers and investors to define shared objectives, priorities, incentives and development strategies. You are invited to the Developer’s Workshop to discuss what incentives are needed to attract investors and builders to this area.

Share your input on:

  • Overview of recent Development Potential Report
  • Potential development incentives – City of Houston, GEEMD, and East End TIRZ, etc.
  • “Opportunity Sites” to include mixed-use commercial and residential uses sites.
  • Establishment of a Special Purpose Urban District (SPUD) with customized development regulations and incentives.
